MLB Blackouts

I posted this on my mlb blog on July 3, 2009, and I am closing it down, too.

This isn’t anything anyone who watches baseball (& I assume it applies to other sports- which I don’t watch regularly) doesn’t already know about.  Foremost, my husband has bought me the MLB Extra Innings for the last two years specifically so that I could keep up w/ Tim “The Freakin’ Beast” Lincecum.  On top of the regular cable charges, he shells out for that package for all the out of market games.  I understand blocking out my Rangers- they’re on FSRangers 90% of the time, I can handle missing a game or two once a month.  But that they block out the Astros, the Cards, AND the Royals????

Neighbor, I am Hell & gone from anywhere nears those teams.  It royally sucks.  The only other team I really want to watch is the Braves…

But what with the week of no baseball games during the All-Star week fast approaching, I covet every time Lincecum has come up in the pitching rotation. I very nearly had a coronary Tuesday when my screen was grayed out when I flipped to the Xinnings channel for the Giants game.  Luckily, I found it on a local sports feed on cable.  Sometimes Jesus does smile upon me.

But seriously, come on people!  I’m in the middle of nowhere, my husband & I are both in college, he works 4 10 hour shifts & just jumpin’ in the car, toodlin down the highway to Houston, Saint Louis or Kansas City IS NOT AN OPTION!!   That is why we pay $200 a year for the Extra Innings!   It pisses me off to no end!

So now, not only do I miss Lincecum pitch Saturday, the hubby won’t get to see the new ATL stud, Tommy Hanson- “so fresh up he doesn’t even have a profile on the Braves site”- pitch.

At least my Rangers will be on, thank God for tiny miracles
